KUCHING, April 5: Bau district police chief, DSP Poge Nyaon, has been tested positive for Covid-19.

Poge suspected that he could have contracted the virus after attending a meeting with Assistant Transport Minister Datuk Dr Jerip Susil on March 30 in Bau.

The Mambong assemblyman was tested positive for Covid-19 and admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) on April 2.

“I feel (healthy) as usual and I don’t have any symptoms of the Covid-19 virus but I have started receiving treatment at the hospital,” the Bau OCPD said when contacted.

Following the Dr Jerip’s test results, Poge said he and five other police officers went to the Youth and Sports Complex for their Covid-19 screenings.

“My results came back positive,” he added.

Poge said the police officers have observed self-quarantine at their respective homes. Another 20 officers from the Bau police district headquarters will go for screening today. — DayakDaily
