Bau falls into red territory after recording 18 new Covid-19 cases

KUCHING, March 7: Bau has become a Covid-19 red zone after recording 18 news cases today, bringing the total number of cases in the district to 41.

Its neighbouring district Lundu, meanwhile, was categorised as a Covid-19 yellow zone status after recording two new Covid-19 cases today.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a press statement today, one of the individuals concerned was detected via active case detection (ACD), while the second was found to be infected after undergoing a screening test at a Lundu healthcare facility.


Meanwhile, eight other districts namely Selangau, Betong, Meradong, Kuching, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu remained unchanged as red zones with a total of 2,688 infections reported in the most recent two-week period.

Samarahan, Kanowit, Sarikei, Serian, Julau, Subis, Dalat and Sri Aman remained unchanged as orange zones as of today, with a total of 228 cases reported over the same period.

Ten districts namely Bukit Mabong, Tatau, Marudi, Mukah, Pusa, Song, Asajaya, Beluru, Saratok and Sebauh stayed as yellow zones with a total of 64 cases reported over the same period. The remaining 12 districts maintained their green zone status. — DayakDaily
