KUCHING, Oct 6: Even before the dissolution of Parliament, Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang has already let out the war cry to wrest back Stampin for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

He predicted that the 15th General Election is coming soon and urged the residents of Kampung Semeba and Kampung Tematu to give the GPS candidate the support which was given to him during the Sarawak Election in 2021.

“Whatever support you had given to me during the last election, may your support continue and strengthen. I appeal to all voters to give full support to the GPS candidate.

“Support the GPS candidate so that we may wrest back Stampin parliamentary seat this time,” said Lo at the opening of the Kampung Haji Community Hall Community Hall-cum-handover of land titles to residents of Kampung Semeba and Kampung Tematu held at the new community hall today.

A total of 463 land titles issued under Section 18 of Sarawak Land Code were handed over to the residents of the two Malay villages.

Lo said the cancellation of the Haji Baki Community Hall project worth RM2 million during the 22-month period of Pakatan Harapan administration was still fresh for the village residents and himself.

So too, the cancellation of other projects including a futsal court project and the Kampung Haji Baki Hawker Centre project.

Following the cancellation of these projects, Lo sought the assistance of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg who agreed to fund the projects.

“Consider ourselves lucky that PH only took over the (federal) government for 22 months. If PH was to continue in power, all projects in Kampung Haji Baki including the drainage system which has been completed will be put on hold.

“What will happen to us? We ‘tengok saja’ (remain as spectators) as Dr Sim always says,” said Lo.

Lo who is also the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman took the opportunity to request the State government on the behalf of the residents of Kampung Haji Baki which comprises 659 households and 3,200 residents, for more allocation to extend the just opened community hall so it can serve as a community centre.

“This community centre and the futsal court are the only facility that they have. This community centre will have a jamming room with drum set for the young; a karaoke room for the young and the old, a sewing centre and a kitchen for ladies to share and to learn to cook and make cakes; a place to read newspapers and a library for both the elderly and the young.

“There will also be a table tennis table for those who like the game. And below the community centre, there will be a stepped seating place to watch futsal games,” said Lo.

He said such a community centre will greatly benefit the residents of Kampung Haji Baki and the surrounding villages where the residents can come and make full use of the facilities available.

The request for proposed community centre which is estimated to cost RM1.8 million was approved by Abang Johari on the spot. — DayakDaily
