Bank Rakyat presents RM1.25 mln business tithe to Sarawak Baitulmal Fund

KUCHING, Jan 28: Bank Rakyat has presented business tithe (‘zakat’) amounting to RM1,252,323 to Sarawak Baitulmal Fund (TBS) in a ceremony witnessed by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg held at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.

Bank Rakyat was represented by Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC) Minister Tan Sri Noh Omar while TBS was represented by Sarawak Islamic Council (SIC) president Datu Misnu Taha.

Also present were the MEDAC secretary-general Dato Suriani Dato Ahmad, Bank Rakyat chairman Datuk Abdul Rani Lebai Jaafar and Bank Rakyat chief executive officer (CEO) Dato Syed Abdul Aziz Syed Hassan.


Abang Johari also witnessed the exchange of memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen entrepreneurship initiatives in Sarawak between Bank Rakyat and Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) as well as Bank Rakyat and Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak (Mintred).

Bank Rakyat was represented by Abdul Aziz while SEDC was represented by chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Abdul Aziz Husain and Mintred by acting permanent secretary Dzulkornain Masron. — DayakDaily
