KUCHING, April 20: Azizul Annuar Adenan achieved a significant milestone in sports development, particularly for Sarawak, by being elected as one of the vice presidents of the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) for the 2025-2029 term.

Azizul, who also serves as Tanjung Datu assemblyman, garnered an impressive 81 votes—the highest among all five newly elected OCM vice presidents—during the 44th OCM Annual General Assembly held yesterday, according to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas).

Azizul’s election is seen as a significant boost to the development of sports in Malaysia, and Sarawak in particular. This latest achievement also builds upon his already impressive credentials as the youngest president of Taekwondo Malaysia Organisation and president of the Sarawak Taekwondo Association.

In other key OCM leadership positions, Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria retained his presidency unopposed for the 2025-2029 term.

Datuk Nur Azmi Ahmad, president of the Malaysian Karate Federation (MAKAF), was elected as the new OCM deputy president with a decisive 70-20 vote margin. He replaces former Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Tan Sri Hamidin Mohd Amin, who did not seek a re-election.
