Augustine Wong elected as Sheda president for 2021-2024

KUCHING, May 3: Augustine Wong Chung Ho has been elected as the president of Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (Sheda) State Council for the term 2021-2024.

Sheda in a recent press statement said Wong was elected the new president of Sheda after the recently concluded branch elections held in Kuching, Sibu, Miri and Bintulu respectively.

The association disclosed that Wong’s installation as the new president was held during Sheda’s 28th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on April 30 at Imperial Hotel here with strict standard operating procedure (SOP) and guidelines prescribed by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

The association added that Wong is a well-known figure in the corporate world while he has vast knowledge and experience in corporate management, global logistics venture, inland port operation and property development.

Sheda noted that Wong was also the past president of Rotary Club of Kuching Central, District 3310 and a former councillor of Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS).

Meanwhile, Sheda added its outgoing president Dr Christopher Ngui and the officer bearers for 2018-2021 has supported Wong who is also managing director of Sinar Mekar Properties Sdn Bhd to helm the top post.

In the meantime, Wong will be joined by Sendayan Properties Sdn Bhd’s director Louis Ting who is the deputy president, Hock Kui Development Sdn Bhd’s director Angie Kueh as secretary-general and Lafrowda Properties Sdn Bhd’s managing director John Yong as treasurer-general.

He will also be assisted by four vice presidents who are Dato Sim Kiang Chiok (Sheda Kuching branch’s chairman) Cecil Lau Ning Kiang, (Sheda Sibu branch’s chairman) James Hii Sing Lung (Sheda Miri branch’s chairman) and Josua Sia Kee Wei (Sheda Bintulu branch’s chairman).

They will be supported by 10 committee members for the state council for 2021-2024.

They are Alex Wong, Bryan Chen, Gary Kho, Lawrence Law, Noel Yek, Paul Satem, Peter Lau, Peter Pau, Steve Tan and William Wong.

Likewise, Ngui the immediate past president of Sheda and Joseph Wong Kee Liong, the past president of Sheda for 2015-2018 will take on the portfolio of ex officio member of Sheda State Council.

The association added its advisors include former presidents and property industry players who are Dato Alex Ting, Dato William Wei, Zaidi Ahmad, Dr Richard Tan, Dato Bobby Ting, David Toh, Dr John Panil and Clarence Chieng.

Going forward, Sheda said the new State Council for 2021-2024  would be working closely with the relevant agencies and authorities to address some of pressing issues requiring the Association’s immediate attention such as ‘The proposed amendment of the Housing Acts, the Liquidated Ascertained Damages’ (LAD) and issue in shortages of foreign workers.

Apart from that, Sheda said its new State Council will also be forming various working committees to be helmed by experienced council members as chairperson to follow up on critical issues requiring immediate attention and to scale and meet the challenges of the housing industry and continue to grow and expand the impact of Sheda. — DayakDaily
