KUCHING, Feb 13: Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party’s (Aspirasi) Lina Soo has alleged that there is an attempt to oust her as president.
She claimed that the coup d’état happened during the party’s annual general meeting (AGM) at a local hotel yesterday.
She explained that the meeting, which was chaired by an individual who holds a high position in the party, was attended by at least a hundred people, but she could only establish the identity of less than 20 party members.
“As I questioned about the quorum and the need to establish the quorum for our meeting, which is twice our Majlis Tertinggi (Supreme Council) or 26 office bearers, the individual blocked me from further speaking by ordering me out of the room,” she said during a press conference held at a local hotel here today.
She also told the press that she had learned the meeting had declared a new president who is an individual who only joined the party in September last year.
The meeting also allegedly named several non-party members to hold important posts in the party.
Following this, Soo lodged a police report on the whole ordeal yesterday evening and submitted a letter to the Registrar of Society (ROS) to open an investigation.
Soo also stressed that she is still the party’s president for the present term from 2021 to 2026. — DayakDaily
