KUCHING, Sept 10: Artwork by 13 young artists from the Kuching Association Of Talent Development and Welfare of Special Needs (KATSN) will be featured at Plaza Merdeka in conjunction with the Mid-Autumn Festival from Sept 22 to Oct 1.

KATSN advisor Dato Sim Kiang Chiok said it is a charity event in collaboration with Plaza Merdeka where unique arts and crafts will be displayed at a designated gallery at the shopping mall from 10am to 10pm daily.

He pointed out the artwork is by people with special disabilities who are gifted with a talent in arts and able to create something that could make them proud and be part of society.

“In business, we not only take and make profit, but we must give back to society, in order to make our effort more satisfying and rewarding,” said Sim during the press conference.

He noted Sarawak is blessed, with love, peace and harmony.

“As we progress in this country, we must always remember these comfortable conditions could be easily destroyed or taken away through man-made or through nature’s events, such as war or adverse weather.”

Thus, he urged society to continuously contribute in whatever way it can, big or small.

“Be united as Sarawak wants to remain peaceful, prosperous and stable in our beloved country. KATSN need all the support to allow these special children and young adults, (and to give them) the encouragement to be part of our society,” said Sim.
