“Alternative” to PBB and PKR Sarawak formed?

Dato Othman Abdillah

KUCHING, June 18: A Malay-based party called Parti Sedar Rakyat Sarawak is claiming to have been formed to serve as “an alternative” to Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak.

Its pro-tem committee is scheduled to hold its first meeting at a hotel here tomorrow.

According to a media invite from Dato Othman Abdillah, the main struggles of the new party are to fight for the interests of the Malays and Bumiputera community, but its structure would be different from PBB’s.

“This party is not only aiming to be an alternative to PBB in its struggles to protect the interests of the Malays but it also aiming to be a substitute to PKR Sarawak.

“However, this party will cooperate with PKR to challenge PBB in non-Malay areas,” said Othman.

He claimed discussions with top PKR leaders in Kuala Lumpur had been held.

Othman further explained that Parti Sedar Rakyat Sarawak was to cater to those local Malays who found it hard to accept PKR as the main vehicle to help them conquer Sarawak. — DayakDaily
