Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation wants to work with Sarawak to explore renewable energy

KUCHING, April 30: Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), an agency under the Digital Ministry, has expressed its intention to collaborate with the Sarawak government in several areas including renewable energy.

According to a report by TVS, MDEC chief executive officer Mahadhir Aziz said the agency is also interested in being involved in the development of digital infrastructure in Sarawak.


He also said the agency wants to expand its DE Rantau programme to Sarawak.

“DE Rantau aims to make Malaysia the Digital Nomad Hub of choice to increase digital usage and promote the mobility of digital professional and tourism throughout the country.

“MDEC has also briefed the head of the government and Sarawak’s highest officials on the programmes and initiatives implemented by us for the people, investors and businesses,” he said as quoted by TVS.

Earlier, Mahadhir led a delegation to pay a courtesy call on the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.

Mahadhir said the visit was also one of MDEC’s initiatives to raise awareness among stakeholders about the programs under Malaysia Digital. — DayakDaily
