Aidi Ismail is new Sarawak police chief

KUCHING, Feb 18: Datuk Aidi Ismail is now the new Sarawak police commissioner effective today.

Aidi, who was Terengganu police chief chief succeeds Datuk Ramli Din who has been appointed as Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department director.

The handing-over of duties ceremony, witnessed by Deputy Inspector General of Police Datuk Mazlan Mansor took place at the state contingent police headquarters.


Aidi and Ramli were among the 37 senior officers of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) involved in the latest reshuffle.

In his departure speech, Ramli said he was satisfied with the performance of the state police contingent and that their overall mission is to safeguard public order and safety in the state.

“I hope that the Sarawak police contingent will continue to carry out their duty to society with utmost commitment. Police need to live up to the public’s expectations in enforcing the law and serving justice to the public,” Ramli said.

He also said the Sarawak police contingent would be in good hands under Aidi’s leadership as he has been equipped with wide-ranging experience and is of high calibre. — DayakDaily
