Agong’s birthday on June 3 remains public holiday, celebrations postponed to Sept

KUCHING, June 2: The birthday of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim on June 3 will remain a public holiday even though the celebration will be held in September.

Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today reported that this announcement was made by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in a recent statement.

It stated that the coronation of Sultan Ibrahim as the 17th King will be on July 20 and June 3 has already been gazetted as the official date of the King’s birthday and public holiday.

“However, the King has given permission for the celebration (His Majesty’s Birthday) to be postponed from June to September to make way for the coronation ceremony and other events in conjunction with his coronation in July,” it said.

The statement also disclosed that Minister of Communications Fahmi Fadzil has been appointed as the minister responsible for the special committee for the event that will be held in conjunction with the coronation. — DayakDaily
