Abdul Halim appointed as new MACC chief effective May 13

KUCHING, Apr 25: Datuk Sri Abdul Halim Aman has been appointed the new chief of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) effective May 13, 2026.

This was announced by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar in a statement issued today.

Shamsul said the proposal was presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to the King, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, on Friday (Apr 24).

“The government is confident that with his vast experience and high level of integrity, he is capable of enhancing efforts to strengthen governance, raising the people’s confidence, and strengthening the anti-corruption agenda for the sake of the nation,” he said.

Abdul Halim will replace Tan Sri Azam Baki.

Abdul Halim is a former High Court judge with nearly two decades of judicial experience and a long career in the legal service. — DayakDaily
