KUCHING, May 1: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has been invited to speak at the World Hydrogen Forum in Rotterdam, the Netherlands next week.

The Premier said that these international invitations as well as investors’ confidence are evident that the world recognised Sarawak’s efforts in accelerating transition towards a green economy driven by digital technologies, renewable energy and sustainable development.

“Recently on April 26, I had also spoken at the S. Rajaratnam Endowment Dialogue organised by Temasek Foundation in Singapore.

“I am confident that the invitations from the organisers were made based on Sarawak’s bold initiatives towards the development of a green economy that will be driven by emission-free fuels such as hydrogen,” he said in his message to extend Hari Raya Aidilfitri greetings to all Sarawakians today.

Being the earliest State to take steps towards the new economy, Abang Johari emphasised that Sarawak is heading towards the right direction.

“Sarawak must advance and progress along with the current global trend which is racing towards building an economy driven by digital technologies and managed sustainably with emphasis on renewable energy and non-emission fuels, especially green hydrogen and solar energy.”

Foreign investors from Korea and Japan, he added, are also familiar with Sarawak’s policy towards green fuel development. They had visited to negotiate with the government to invest in green hydrogen production projects in the State with the aim to produce 10,000 metric tonnes per year by 2025.

“The children of Sarawak must continue to unite towards building a Sarawak that can be the pride of all Sarawakians in the future.

“The people must also unite in one voice for continuous efforts in restoring or reinstating Sarawak’s rights that had been eroded and materialise promises that have not been fulfilled as enshrined in the Federal Constitution and Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).”

The Premier expressed confidence that the people of Sarawak will continue to give their full support to the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government so that the voice of Sarawak will continue to be heard and be given attention to at the national level.

“Lastly, me and my wife (Datin Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang) and family would like to wish the people of Sarawak a Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Maaf Zahir dan Batin.” — DayakDaily
