KUCHING, May 1: Sarawak must have a stronger united voice in Parliament so that it continues to be respected as a force that contributes to the stability of Malaysia’s administration.

Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said Sarawakians must stay united towards building a Sarawak that can be the pride of its people in the future.

“The people of Sarawak must also come together to continue efforts to restore Sarawak’s eroded rights and implement things that have not been done as enshrined in the Federal Constitution and the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

“I am confident that Sarawakians will also give their full support to the GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) government so that the voice of Sarawak continues to be given the best possible attention at the national level,” he said in his Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2022 wishes to all those celebrating in Sarawak today.

With GPS’ landslide victory of winning 76 out of 82 seats in the last 12th Sarawak Election (PRN12), Abang Johari said GPS was entrusted by the people of Sarawak to continue to lead the region.

While GPS has proven its ability and capability to govern Sarawak, including when faced with the Covid-19 pandemic, he assured voters that they have made the right choice and that GPS is a credible and trustworthy government.

“On behalf of my colleagues in the Cabinet, I would also like to assure you that the Sarawak government under my leadership will do its best to fulfill the 34 points promised in the GPS Manifesto in the last PRN12.

“(We will continue) to look after the welfare of the people and develop Sarawak to cover both urban and rural areas as much as possible until Sarawak becomes a developed State within eight years,” he added. — DayakDaily
