KUCHING, Nov 17: A jobless man claimed trial to raping his underage girlfriend on their first date at a budget hotel here in Kuching.
The 20-year-old accused from Kampung Samariang Batu, allegedly raped his girlfriend who was then 15 years 9 months old.
The alleged rape took place in September 2019.
The accused was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum imprisonment term of 20 years and whipping, upon conviction.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge framed.
Sessions Court Judge Jason Juga fixed December 11 for pre-trial case management hearing. The judge also allowed the accused to be released on court bail of RM10,000 with two local sureties.
