A child, a teenager arrested for 19 house break-in cases at Batu Kawa

KUCHING, Aug 11:  A child and a teenager have been arrested for allegedly committed 19 house break-in cases in Batu Kawa area.

The two were arrested for the latest break-in case at MJC Batu Kawa area but had admitted to another 18 cases.


Padawan District police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said in a statement today that on Aug 1, the police received a report from a resident of MJC Batu Kawa that his residential shop was broken in on 5.30 pm of July 31.

“The resident claimed that the perpetrators had gained access to his house after damaging the iron gate where he lost a gold chain, a handphone, a laptop, two gold rings and a silver bracelet,” said Aidil.

Yesterday at 12 noon, the police arrested the 12-year-old suspect who is a school dropout and has no prior police record, in relation to the MJC Batu Kawa case of July 31.

Three hours later, with the help of the 12-year-old, the police picked up the 14-year-old suspect who is also a school dropout but has a prior criminal record under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.

A Fila tee-shirt and a pair of brown pants were seized as evidence during the arrest.

During investigations, the child and the teenager admitted to have committed all 19 cases of house break-in in Batu Kawa, including the case of July 31.

Both the child and the teenager are currently under remand for further investigation. — DayakDaily
