KUCHING, Aug 4: Two local men have been arrested in connection with an alleged attempted house theft at RPR Batu Kawa after a homeowner confronted them and disrupted their suspected attempt.
Padawan District Police chief Supt Barry William said the incident occurred at about 3.20am on Aug 3, when the victim returned home and encountered two suspicious men outside his house.
“The victim acted bravely by attempting to detain one of the suspects, resulting in a brief struggle. However, both suspects managed to escape from the scene,” he said in a statement today.
Following information received, a Task Force team from the Padawan District Police Headquarters (IPD Padawan) conducted investigations and successfully traced and arrested both suspects, aged 28 and 32, at the RPR Batu Kawa area at about 2.30pm on the same day.
Barry said both suspects, who are local residents, have been remanded from today until Aug 7 to assist investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft and Section 511 of the Penal Code for attempted offences.
Barry also thanked members of the public for their cooperation and urged the community to continue providing information related to criminal activities to the police.
“Such cooperation is important in ensuring the safety and security of the community remains protected,” he said. — DayakDaily
