KUCHING, March 15: Some 87 individual police reports, since yesterday, have been lodged against a woman who is claimed to be inciting her social media followers to commit violent acts against those of different religions.

Dayak Bukit Kelingkang (DBK) representative Lawrance Ashay, who is one of the 87, said his associates in Miri and Bintulu have lodged a total of almost 30 police reports.

Another 12 were made in Bau, 26 in Simanggang and nine in Kuching just yesterday (March 14).

Today at Kota Sentosa police station, 10 members of the NGO-based civil movement named Bulang Movement were there since 8am to submit their reports.

Bulang Movement, that has about 1,000 members in Sarawak, is consisted of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) such as DBK, Pertubuhan Hak Asasi Sumber Alam Singai (HATS), YATT Society, Persatuan Adat Asal Bidoyoh, SMETAP Society, Sarawak Association for People’s Aspirations (Sapa) and Dayak Charity Association.

Sapa president Dominique Ng was also present to lodge his individual report and for a press conference held in front of the police station here today.

He and other spokespersons of respective NGOs expressed their concerns and hoped that the police would investigate the woman and take relevant actions to stop the recurrence of similar events.

In the almost 13-minute live session on March 11, “Puteri” claimed to be disappointed with the High Court’s decision to allow the use of word “Allah” in Christian Bibles and prayers.

Kuala Lumpur High Court had on March 10 ruled that the non-Muslim community may use the word “Allah” in their preaching and publications.

The High Court said the community can also use the words “Baitullah”, “Kaabah” and “solat” for teaching purposes which the Malaysian government has banned for 35 years. — DayakDaily
