KUCHING, May 27: The upgrading of the 7th Mile Basketball Mini Stadium has been successfully completed to deliver a safer, more comfortable and more accessible sports facility for residents, youths and the wider sporting community in Kota Sentosa.

The project, implemented under the RTP 2025 allocation, involved extensive improvements aimed at enhancing convenience, safety and accessibility for users of the facility and surrounding communities.

Among the completed works are the construction of two new changing rooms equipped with shower facilities, resurfacing of the basketball court, development of new car parking areas, and the creation of a new entrance to improve traffic flow and overall access to the venue.

“The upgrading reflects the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government’s continued commitment to strengthening community infrastructure while encouraging healthy lifestyles and greater youth participation in sports,” he said in a press release.

He noted that the 7th Mile Basketball Mini Stadium has long served as a key venue for community gatherings, youth development and sporting activities, and the upgraded facilities would significantly enhance its role as a safe and conducive space for recreation and competition.

During the visit, Yap also expressed appreciation to MPP officers for their close coordination throughout the implementation process, as well as to contractor An-Nashr Resources for the timely and successful completion of the works.

“The improved facilities will benefit not only basketball players and sports associations, but also local residents who regularly use the venue for community events and recreational activities,” he added.

Yap reaffirmed his commitment to continue identifying and implementing people-centric development projects under RTP allocations to further improve public amenities and the overall quality of life for residents in Kota Sentosa. — DayakDaily
