KUCHING, Feb 5: A 56-year-old man lost his life after his car crashed head-on with an express bus at Kilometre 41, Jalan Pan Borneo in Miri this morning.
According to a TVS news report, the deceased was driving a Proton Saga car.
A spokesman for the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre said that they received a call regarding the case at 7.06am and mobilised the Miri Fire and Rescue Department (BBP) and the Batu Niah BBP to the scene.
āOn arrival at the location it was found that there had been an accident involving a Proton Saga car and a passenger bus.
āA man is still pinned in the driverās seat, while 14 passengers and the driver on the bus survived without injury,ā the spokesperson said in a statement today, as quoted by the news outlet.
After conducting a āsize upā, the rescue team extricated the trapped victim using rescue equipment and stretchers.
āThe victim was then transferred to a safe place to be handed over to the Malaysian Ministry of Health (KKM) for examination.
