KUCHING, May 3: A total of 35 compounds were issued during the second day of the Sarawak Rabies Integrated Enforcement operation around Desa Wira in Batu Kawah here on Tuesday (April 30).
In a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), 19 compounds were issued by the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) for failing to submit dog ownership licenses, while 16 were issued by the Veterinary Services Department (DVS) Sarawak for neglecting to vaccinate their pet dogs.
For dog owners who were not present at their residences, MPP and DVS issued 30 notification notices, mandating owners to furnish complete documentation for their dogs at the DVS office and the municipal council within 14 days.
During the operation, DVS vaccinated a total of 36 dogs in collaboration with the Sarawak Security and Enforcement Unit (UKPS).
Concurrently, MPP registered 30 previously unregistered dogs belonging to their respective owners.
The operation also witnessed 21 stray dogs captured. — DayakDaily
