33 foreign women, 7 Indonesian men nabbed in Miri nightclub raid over immigration offences

MIRI, May 10: A total of 33 foreign women from China, Vietnam, and the Philippines, along with seven Indonesian men, were detained during an immigration raid at an entertainment centre in Miri City last night (May 9).

In a TVS news report, the Sarawak Immigration Department said the integrated enforcement operation, dubbed Ops Gegar, was carried out by its Miri enforcement unit in collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) at around 10pm.

“During the raid, authorities inspected 50 individuals at the premises,” the statement said.

Checks revealed that the entertainment outlet was offering the services of foreign women to entertain customers.

Those detained were found to have committed various immigration offences, including misuse of social visit passes, overstaying their permitted duration, and failure to possess valid travel documents.

All detainees have been taken to the Bekenu Immigration Depot for further investigation under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963. — DayakDaily
