SIBU, May 21: Three men died after the lorry they were travelling in was involved in an accident at Mile 17, Jalan Sibu-Bintulu, yesterday.
Sibu District Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the accident was understood to have happened around 5pm.
“The accident occurred when a 23-year-old local man lost control of the lorry he was driving, resulting in the crash.
“As a result of the accident, two lorry passengers, aged 20 and 21 respectively, were thrown out of the lorry. They suffered serious head injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by the Sibu Hospital medical personnel,” he said today.
Zulkipli said the 23-year-old driver was later pronounced dead while receiving treatment at Sibu Hospital.
He added that the case is being investigated under Sec.41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving and causing death. — DayakDaily
