KUCHING, June 28: The 27th edition of the Baleh-Kapit Raft Safari is scheduled to take place from July 12 to 14.
According to a news report from the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Kapit Resident and chairman of the Baleh-Kapit Raft Safari committee, Galong Luang, stated that the event will be held in the Bukit Mabong district.
“It will be held in Rh Bajai, Nanga Kain in Bukit Mabong, as the first departure point followed by a stopover and second departure point at Rh Ukau, Nanga Bawai, Kapit and ending at the Kapit Passenger Terminal on July 14,” he said during an interview with Ukas yesterday (June 27).
A total of five categories will be contested in this race, namely Open Men’s Bamboo Raft Category, Open Women’s Bamboo Raft Category, Open Mixed Rowing Boat Category (Men and Women), Open Mixed Doubles (Men and Women) Category and Decorated Raft Category.
The champion for Open Men’s Bamboo Raft category and the Open Women’s Bamboo Raft category will receive a cash prize of RM6,000 each together with a trophy, medal and certificate.
The winner of the Open Mixed Rowing Boat Category (Men and Women) will take home a cash prize of RM4,000 together with a trophy, medal and certificate.
For the Open Mixed Doubles Raft Category (Men and Women), a cash prize of RM1,000 together with a trophy, medal and certificate is up for grabs, while the winner of the Decorated Raft Category will take home a cash prize of RM2,000 and a certificate. — DayakDaily
