SIBU, Dec 24: A house at Jalan Apollo Barat suffered damage to its roof caused by an explosive item yesterday.

Acting Sibu district police chief, Supt Dr Collin Babat said at about 4.45am, a 48-year old complainant was rudely awakened from her sleep by a loud explosion.

The complainant, who is a clerk of a legal firm, rushed out to see what had happened together with her 25-year-old son and 71-year-old father.

“She found a hole on the zinc roof and fragments of fire crackers. Total damage is extimated at RM500,” he said.

Supt Dr Collin said at the time of the incident, her son saw a thin man alighting from a car and walking to their home.

“He gave a loud shout but the man quickly threw an explosive item onto the roof of the house and ran off to the car,”he added.

Supt Dr Collin said the case involved two suspects but ruled out gangsterism was involved.
