12 compounds issued so far for Sarawak’s SOP violators

KUCHING, May 29: Two individuals with white wristbands out in public places and a hair salon were among those found to be violating the current standard operating procedures (SOP) and were slapped with compounds in the past 24 hours.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC)’s daily update report on Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, the police had issued 12 compounds throughout Sarawak with four each in Kuching and Bintulu and two each in Padawan and Sibu for flouting the SOP.

Of the 12 compounds, four were issued for working beyond permitted hours, two each for recreational activities in public places, not wearing face masks and out in public places while wearing white wristband, and one each for not updating logbook and providing hand sanitiser.


This thus increased the total number of compounds issued since March 18, 2020 to 6,871.

Meanwhile, the Local Government and Housing Sarawak issued 15 compounds under the jurisdiction of MD Lubok Antu (3), Sibu Municipal Council (3), Bintulu Development Authority (2), MD Matu and Daro (2), Padawan Municipal Council (2) and one each from Kota Samarahan Municipal Council, MD Serian and MD Betong.

Of the offences, four were due to failure to update registration logbook and incomplete registration details, four for not using face masks, three for physical distancing, three for not registering with MySejahtera and one for providing hair colouring services.

This thus increased the total number of compounds issued by the local government since Feb 1, 2021 to 791. — DayakDaily
