10 Sarawak SMEs rack up over RM150,000 in sales at 4-day expo in Sabah

KUCHING, March 25: Ten small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from Sarawak have racked up RM151,093 in sales at the four-day Malaysia International Women Entrepreneurs Expo (SIWE) 2022 held in Sabah on March 10.

The Ministry of International Trade and Investment said that the sales generated from the four-day expo have increased compared to the total of RM38,197.50 recorded in 2020.

Among the unique Sarawak products promoted and received encouraging response were frozen ‘kelupis’, instant kolo mee, Batik Linut (made using sago flour), Long Tuma ceramic beads, rattan-weaving handicrafts, Sarawak layer cake, agriculture products and ‘rumah inap’.


In a media release today, the Ministry said Sarawak participated in the expo not only to showcase and promote its products and services, but to leverage on the platform for Sarawak SMEs to network with buyers, distributors, marketing agents, stockists and hypermarkets to penetrate markets outside Sarawak.

Sarawak’s SMES were proactive in holding business meetings and matchings with potential agents, hypermarkets, suppliers as well as Sabah Chambers of Commerce to establish business relationships.

Apart from Sarawak, the expo was also participated by companies and entrepreneurs development agencies from Terengganu, Penang and Kedah as well as dealers from China and Indonesia.

The expo was organised by IKSnita Sabah with the support of the Sabah government in conjunction with International Women’s Day 2022.

Featuring some 200 exhibition booths with 500 products and services of various SMEs on display, the SIWE 2022 had attracted an estimated 30,000 visitors.

The 10 Sarawak SMEs participated in the expo were Sixteen Twentynine Sdn Bhd, IANA Corporation Sdn Bhd, Zuemaa Enterprise, RFM Global Corporation Sdn Bhd, SM Ecofarm, Manik Seramik Enterprise, Batik Linut Sdn Bhd, GME Enterprise, Forest Crest Sdn Bhd and Dir Rich Global Enterprise. — DayakDaily
