SIBU, May 9: A fatal accident occurred today at Jalan Tapang Sibu-Bintulu when a lorry rammed into the rear of another parked lorry by the roadside, resulting in one man’s death and injuries to two others.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak responded to an emergency at 5.50pm and immediately dispatched a team of firefighters from the Sibu Station to the location.
According to Bomba Sibu, passersby had already assisted a 36-year-old man with minor injuries and another victim out of the vehicle before the firefighters arrived.
Tragically, paramedics on-site pronounced one of the victims dead at the scene, and his remains were handed over to the police for further action.
Firefighters then acted to extricate a 24-year-old man trapped within one of the lorries.
The victim, suffering injuries to his legs, arms, waist, and chest, was handed over to paramedics to be transported to the hospital for urgent medical care.
Once the site’s safety was ensured, firefighters concluded their operation at 7.05pm. — DayakDaily
