KUCHING, July 15: Team ZYZ FC from Kuching beat KTT to win the inaugural Unity Futsal Tournament held here today.

The winning players went home with RM3,000 and the championship trophy, while KTT players got RM2,500 cash and medals.

More than 32 multi-racial teams participated in the two-day challenge, where the third spot went to IPGKTAR (RM1,500 prize money) and ESPA came in fourth (RM1,000).

Assistant Minister of Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali presented the winnings to the winners.

She told reporters that the tournament was one of eight Unity activities organised by the state government in conjunction with Sarawak Independence Day on July 22.

The celebratory programme kicked-off with a mini concert on Saturday evening. It was opened by Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, who is the minister-in-charge of this year’s state-level celebration.

Sharifah Hasidah said another activity planned was thanksgiving prayers to be held in mosques, churches and other places of worship throughout the state at any date convenient to the devotees.
