Zuraimi: Make safety a culture at work sites

SARIKEI, Oct 26: State Public Works director Datu Zuraimi Sabki has lauded the achievement of Pekerjaan Piasau Konkerit Sdn Bhd for achieving one million hours without Loss Time Injury (LTI) during the construction of road projects here.

He said the achievement is the result of continuous adoption and cultural value practices based on “Think Safety, Work Safely”, which prioritising employee’s safety including those in the construction sites and surrounding communities.

The company achieved the feat when implementing the proposed road construction project of Jalan Pakan, Ulu Julau, Ulu Kota (Phase 2) within the Sarikei division, he added.


“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all those involved including contractors, JKR (Public Works Department) project teams, excellent cooperation of security officers, site safety supervisors and employees for having this achievement of reaching one million safe-man hours without LTI,” he said in a statement.

Zuraimi added that the target was achieved due to excellent leadership in the project team, good work of safety officer, site safety supervisor, and efficient teamwork among all employees at the construction site.

“As a whole, the construction of the project was well-managed and has achieved 96.32 per cent. It is expected to be completed next month,” he said.

Pekerjaan Piasau Konkerit Sdn Bhd managing director Kong Lee Luang said that the company will continue to be committed to ensure the safety in both of their construction areas and also the local community.

“Occupational Health and Safety have always been a priority, which is in line with our slogan ‘Everyone Gets Home Without Harm’ and we are very committed in implementing this project until its completion,” he said. — DayakDaily
