Zero Covid-19 cases in Kuching today, but 13 new cases reported in 6 other districts

KUCHING, Jan 14: Kuching reported zero Covid-19 cases today for the first time in more than a year, but six other districts in Sarawak have logged 13 new cases.

With no Covid-19 fatalities reported, this thus pushed the overall State Covid-19 tally so far to 252,581 and death toll remains unchanged at 1,619.

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee’s (SDMC) latest updates on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, Miri and Sibu recorded four cases each.


Bintulu reported two cases, while Limbang, Meradong and Beluru reported one case respectively.

Of the new cases, there are 10 under Category 1 with no symptoms and three under Category 2 with mild symptoms.

Currently, there are no active clusters in Sarawak.

Meanwhile, the police have issued four compounds in Kuching in the past 24 hours for various standard operating procedure (SOP) violations.

Two compounds were issued for failure to scan the QR Code with the MySejahtera app or recording attendance prior to entering a premises, and another two for not wearing face masks. — DayakDaily
