KUCHING, Sept 19: The Kota Samarahan Sessions Court today sentenced a 23-year-old man to 22 years’ jail and three strokes of the rotan for raping his 14-year-old sister.
The accused pleaded guilty to the two charges against him.
For the first charge, it was accused that on Sept 7, at about 1am, at an unnumbered house in Kampung Sungai Barie, Serian, the accused had physically and sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl by touching her breast and kissing her from neck to stomach. The accused, thereby, committed an offence under subsection 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act, 2017.
For the second charge, he was accused of committing incest against his own younger sister on Sept 7 at about 1am. He, thereby, committed an offence under section 376B(1) of the Penal Code.
For the first charge, Judge Afidah Abdul Rahman sentenced the accused to 10 years’ imprisonment with effect from today.
For the second charge, the accused was sentenced to 12 years’ jail with effect from today with three strokes of the rotan.
Afidah ordered the jail sentence to run concurrently. — DayakDaily
