Youth pleads guilty to seven charges of raping underage girlfriend

KUCHING, July 1: A youth pleaded guilty to raping his underage girlfriend over a period of seven days.

The 20-year-old accused pleaded guilty to all seven charges framed under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code before Sessions Court Judge Jason Juga here today.


Jason fixed August 5 to hear the accused’s social report before passing sentence on the accused.

The judge also allowed the accused to be released on RM10,000 bail with two local sureties.

The accused was charged with raping his 13-year-old girlfriend at the accused’s house which is located in Batu Kawa, between June 16 to June 22, 2021.

Section 376(1) of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 20 years imprisonment and whipping, upon conviction.

On June 15, the girl told her parents that she was going to school to collect her books but she went missing after that. Subsequently her father lodged a police report.

On June 23, the victim was found at a hypermarket in Samariang and she admitted that she had been living in the accused’s house during her disappearance.
