BAU, Feb 26: Yayasan Petronas recently distributed essential food supplies to some 200 underprivileged families in Bau in conjunction with the Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration.
Each family received essential food items such as cooking oil, rice, rice vermicelli, sugar, flour, salt, sardine, chicken curry, tea, milo, longevity noodle, dry mushroom, sesame oil and taucu sauce, as well as cookies sourced from participants of the ‘Memampankan Ekonomi Asas Rakyat (MEKAR)’ programme.
According to a press release, this is part of the foundation’s Uplifting Lives Festive 2024 programme which is being implemented in collaboration with Social Welfare Department (JKM).
Petronas Sarawak general manager Zulaihi Mantali said, “Since 2019, some 6,450 Chinese recipients in Sarawak have benefitted from this programme.
“We hope our contributions can bring joy to less fortunate families in celebrating this year’s Chinese New Year.”
This year, a total of 2,100 families from various region across Malaysia has benefitted from the Uplifting Lives Festive (ULF) CNY.
The Uplifting Lives programme is integral to Yayasan Petronas’ community well-being and development strategy. This initiative aligns with the Petronas Sustainability Agenda and aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. — DayakDaily
