Two injured in collision near Jalan Riam-Miri By-Pass traffic light

MIRI, Feb 26: Two individuals were injured in a two-vehicle collision near Jalan Riam-Miri By-Pass traffic light intersection today (Monday).

It was believed that the accident occurred when one of the vehicles failed to stop at a red light, resulting in a collision with the second vehicle.


The incident involved a Proton Saga and a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).

Prior to the crash, the SUV was heading towards Pujut from Miri Airport, while the Proton Saga was coming from the opposite direction and was about to make a right turn to Riam Road before it collided with the incoming SUV.

According to a report from Miri Civil Defence Force (APM), the Proton Saga driver and a passenger—both females, aged 56 and 49 respectively—sustained injuries and were transported to Miri Hospital for further treatment, while the SUV driver was unharmed.

APM personnel and the force’s ambulance service were immediately mobilised to the accident scene in response to an emergency alert at 1.09pm and helped to rush the injured victims to hospital. — DayakDaily
