Wuhan woman, 67, is Malaysia’s 16th case of the novel coronavirus

KUCHING, Feb 8: A Chinese female tourist from Wuhan, China, has been confirmed as the 16th case of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in the country.

According to the national English daily The Star, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail revealed this during a briefing at the Health Ministry in Kuala Lumpur today.

The female tourist, 67, is the mother of a friend of the 14th patient that have been tested positive for the virus.


She gathered that the woman was confirmed to carry the 2019-nCoV on Feb 7 and is being hospitalised at Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

Wan Azizah noted that the woman’s condition is stable.

On another matter, she said there is currently no plan to prevent or bar travellers from China to come to Malaysia.

She said the federal government will hold talks with its Singapore’s counterpart over the Island Republic’s recent “orange alert” announcement regarding the coronavirus. — DayakDaily
