Anwar Ibrahim cancels visit to Miri, Kuching following mother-in-law’s passing

KUCHING, Oct 24: Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Anwar Ibrahim has cancelled his trip to Miri and Kuching today following the passing of his mother-in-law.

In a Facebook post today, he said he received the heartbreaking news from Kuala Lumpur this morning.

“Mother of Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (his wife), Mariah Khamis, has passed away early this morning.


“A funeral prayer will be held at Masjid Al Mustaqim, Ampang at 11.30am today,” he wrote.

Following this, he apologised to the entire leadership of PH Sarawak as well as supporters for having to cancel his tour.

“We will meet again at another time, insya-Allah,” he added.

Anwar is the national president of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).

He was scheduled to visit Miri and Kuching to launch the party’s election machinery in Sarawak ahead of 15th General Election (GE15). — DayakDaily
