Workers’ quarters in Pending destroyed by fire, all occupants safe

KUCHING, Feb 4: A three-door workers’ quarters along Jalan Semangat in Pending was destroyed in a fire yesterday (Feb 3).

According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre, they received a call regarding the incident at 9.56pm and deployed firefighters from the Padungan and Petra Jaya stations to the location.

The operations commander reported that the fire destroyed Block A of the workers’ quarters while two other blocks, Block B and C, were safe.


It said that all eight occupants in Block A managed to escape to safety during the incident.

Firefighters then extinguished the flame and controlled the situation before ending the operation at 12.32am, after ensuring the area was safe. — DayakDaily
