Woman fined in court for violation of SOPs in Sibu

SIBU, Aug 9: A 24-year-old woman has been fined RM2,000 in default six months jail by the Magistrate’s Court today after she pleaded guilty to violating the standard operating procedure of the National Recovery Plan.

The accused, Nurul Syahfina Yusop was charged under Regulations 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Disease 2021.

The offence provides for a fine not exceeding RM50,000 and a jail term not over 6 months.

The court was told that at about 9pm on Sept 25,2021 an integrated SOP monitoring team led by the police conducted a check on a music cafe at Jalan Tan Sri.

The team found a total of 69 patrons had failed to observe social distancing and issued compounds to them.

The accused however failed to settle the compound within the stipulated two weeks and the case was brought to court. — DayakDaily
