14 people slapped with compounds for violating SOP

SIBU, Jan 31: Two groups of 14 people were compounded RM1,000 each for not observing physical distancing while dining in two different eateries last night.

Acting Sibu district police chief Supt Dr Collin Babat said the first group of six men aged between 19 and 59 were caught by an integrated standard operating procedure (SOP) monitoring team led by ASP Kushairy Bujang at about 10pm at an eatery at Jalan Bengkel.

“In the second inspection at 11.15pm at Raminway, the team found eight persons, which include three women committing the same offence,” he said.

The compounds were issued under Regulation 17 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021. ā€” DayakDaily
