Wilfred Yap: GPS believes Stampin candidate Lo can win for S’wak’s greater autonomy, voice in Parliament

KUCHING, Nov 6: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin asserts that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) believes its candidate for P196 Stampin Lo Khere Chiang is a serious contender to win the constituency for GPS and join its armada being planned for Sarawak’s greater autonomy and voice in Parliament.

According to a press statement, Yap was pleased with the GPS leadership’s selection of Lo as the candidate for Stampin, and this was evident yesterday morning when he officially served as Lo’s seconder in the nomination process.

“GPS, under the leadership of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, has demonstrated a very mature approach to selecting candidates for this general election. And, as we can see, there was no bickering and bad faith amongst those vying for the candidacy.

“In contrast, we see that SUPP has been united since day one, and under the leadership of Sarawak Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, we saw the solidarity of our rank and file, who are all now off to the races, doing their part in securing GPS’ victory in Stampin,” he said.

In terms of credentials and work ethic, he continued, GPS believes that Lo is not merely a challenger to the incumbent candidate.

“Lo is a serious contender for the Stampin constituency for GPS to become part of the GPS armada planned for Sarawak’s greater autonomy and a larger voice in Parliament. GPS will need loyal, courageous warriors to go to Parliament and demand Sarawak’s rights.

“Lo’s track record demonstrates that he has consistently lamented Malaya’s performance vis-à-vis Sarawak, and we are confident that he will maintain this consistency if elected by the people of Stampin,” he added.

Yap continued: “We urge all long-time fans of Lo to become his agents of change; you can help in your small way by making sure that everyone you know votes on Nov 19. Voting will help us make Stampin and Sarawak even more powerful and louder in Parliament.” — DayakDaily
