‘Very low-class’: Campaign posters for DAP’s Alice Lau vandalised in Lanang

One of Lau's fishtail banners with the Chinese character meaning "cheating" superimposed over it.

SIBU, Nov 6: Incumbent for Lanang parliamentary seat, Alice Lau has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission and the Returning Officer for the seat after several of her posters were allegedly defaced by an opponent.

Speaking at a press conference here today, an infuriated Lau said she knew who was behind this unlawful act. She pointed out it is against election law to deface posters.

“This is a very low-class trick during election campaign since I have been in election campaigns for so many years. This is the first time I saw all these happen and of course it comes from my opponent. Very obvious,” she said.

Her posters at Jalan Aman where her service centre is located had been superimposed with a Chinese character which labelled her a cheat.

“It happened yesterday after we put up the posters. Today I saw more of these. I don’t think our supporters can accept that also. I know who did this. I think this might backfire on him. Those who want to vote for him have to see his doing. You can attack us with whatever policy but not through this,” she added. — DayakDaily
