SIBU, Nov 14: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari has given the impression that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will support Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as the Prime Minister post 15th General Election (GE15).

ā€œYang Amat Berhormat (Ismail Sabri), GPS only wants a stable federal government and we hope Yang Amat Berhormat (Ismail Sabri) can lead a stable government after the GE15.

ā€œWith that, we will be able to develop our country,ā€ he said when speaking at the opening ceremony for the Selangau section of the Pan Borneo Highway Project held at the Selangau flyover here today.

He also congratulated Ismail Sabri for the recent announcement by Bank Negara Malaysia on Friday (Nov 11) stating that Malaysiaā€™s economy has expanded by 14.2 per cent in the third quarter of this year.

ā€œThat is a very good sign and therefore, we need a very strong government; a very stable government with the support of everybody irrespective of race and religion.

ā€œI can assure Yang Amat Berhormat (Ismail Sabri), this is the objective and target of GPS. We will work for the stability of Malaysia,ā€ he added.

When prompted by a reporter after the event whether he was implying that GPS had decided on its ā€˜suitorā€™ to partner in the federal government, Abang Johari replied: ā€œSekarang ini lagi shiok sendiri lah. Agik bergerek. (Now we are just feeling good. We are still in courting phase.)”

Also present were Ismail Sabri; Deputy Sarawak Premier and Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas; caretaker Senior Minister of Works Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof; caretaker Minister of Communications and Multimedia Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Annuar Musa; Sarawak Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah; Sarawak Minister in the Premierā€™s Department Datuk John Sikie Tayai; Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; and Ministry of Works (MoW) secretary-general Dato Wira Wan Ahmad Uzir Wan Sulaiman. ā€” DayakDaily
