KUCHING, Nov 14: There is no issue of changing the Prime Minister after 15th General Election (GE15), says caretaker Prime Minister Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Ismail Sabri, who is United Malays National Organisation (Umno) vice-president, pointed out that question of who will be the Prime Minister is not decided by individuals but through the party, such as the Umno Supreme Council and many others.

He explained that the Umno general assembly has decided this matter, including the latest Umno grassroots branch meetings, where 156 out of 190 branches also made a motion to propose him as the Prime Minister after the 15th General Election (GE15).

“The party president (Dato Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) has made a statement that there is no change in terms of the Prime Minister candidate,” he told a press conference after officiating at the opening ceremony for the Pan Borneo Sarawak Selangau section held at the Selangau-Mukah interchange in Sibu, today.

Ismail Sabri was responding to a question from reporters regarding a new Prime Minister would be appointed if Barisan Nasional (BN) wins GE15.

According to Ismail Sabri, apart from that, the presidents of the remaining BN component parties Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC), and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) also have agreed on the matter.

“So I believe there should be no changes. Because if you want to change it, you must undo the decision that has been made in the Unmo Supreme Council (MT) meeting or even in Unmo general assembly,” he said. — DayakDaily
