KUCHING, Nov 3: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng shared the experience on how the council manages and minimises Covid-19 as well as striving a balance between economy and health during the 9th Global Conference of the Alliance for Healthy Cities.

According to a statement from MBKS, Wee was the only mayor from Malaysia to represent a paper on “Re-Imaging Health Cities Beyond Balancing Economy and Health: Kuching South Perspective during the mayors forum”.

He also shared how MBKS created smart and healthy cities despite Covid-19 which he believed would enable participants to gain new insights and learn from each other.

More than 160 experts, scholars and representatives from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and other institutions shared their experiences on anti-epidemic measures with participating cities and institutions aimed at strengthening connections in anti-epidemic measures.

The conference featured 21 keynotes and plenary sessions with topics covering updated Covid-19 Control and Policy, Risk Communications in Emergencies, e-Health, Mental Health, Sustainable Cities and Climate Action, Primary Healthcare Services and so forth.

It is held in Hong Kong from Nov 3 to 5. — DayakDaily
