Water supply disruptions scheduled for several areas in Sibu on Feb 27

SIBU, Feb 23: Residents in several areas of Sibu will experience water supply disruptions starting from 10pm on Feb 27 until repair work is completed, according to the Sibu Water Board (SWB).

The disruptions are necessary for the upgrade of the treated water supply system of the 60 Meter Zone at the Salim Water Treatment Plant, which is expected to take five to seven hours to complete.

SWB has advised affected residents to store enough water for their needs during the interruption period, assuring that efforts would be made to complete the work promptly, with water supply gradually recovering in the affected areas.


The areas affected include Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce (Jlan Salim Bypass) – Lanes 40 to 52 (including SMK Bukit Assek and Borneo Supermarket), and areas along Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman – from the Department of Chemistry to Jalan Ulu Sg Merah (including Jalan Permai Jaya, Daesco, Starlink Hotel, Jalan Ling Kai Cheng, Jalan Gelama, Jalan Angsana, Rosli Dhoby School, Vocational School, and Lorong Deshon 18 and Lorong Ulu Sg. Merah 12 to 63).

Other affected areas are Kampung Bahagia Jaya, Rh Edward, and Rh John Lalong on Jalan Teku Pasai, and Jalan Oya Lama up to Sibu/Bintulu junction (including Sibu Hospital, Jalan Permai, Jalan Undan, Jalan Cendana, Lorong Tunku Abdul Rahman 31, Jalan Satria, Jalan Bumi Indah, Jalan Kpg. Jeriah, Jalan Bougenvilla, Jalan Pine, Taman Kemuyang, Kem Rascom, Methodist Victory Home, Jalan Pasai Bon Dua).

In case of unfavorable weather, the work will be rescheduled for the following day.
