Warrant of arrest issued for unemployed man over court no-show

KUCHING, April 29: A warrant of arrest was issued today for an unemployed man who was charged with possessing dangerous drugs.

The accused had failed to appear before the Magistrate’s Court here for mention today. Magistrate Mohd Syukri Mokhtar issued a warrant of arrest and show cause notice to the accused and fixed May 29 for pre-trial case management.


Jackie Wee, 33, from KMC Flats was charged under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act for possessing 0.39g of methamphetamine at a hotel room on February 25, at about 11am.

The accused was earlier allowed to be bailed with RM3,000 with one local surety pending the trial of this case.

He is charged under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act which is punishable under Section 12(3) of the same Act which carries a fine not exceeding RM5,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 5 years or both if convicted.
