KUCHING, Dec 13: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) president Voon Lee Shan lashed out at Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Dato Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, saying the latter only listened to one side of the story.
According to Voon, Wan Junaidi, who is a former senior police officer and a senior lawyer, never questioned him (Voon) personally as to what occurred in an incident yesterday when Voon was stopped by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers.
“I don’t think he viewed my video. My video was very clear that I was arrested,” Voon told reporters in a press conference here today.
Yesterday (Dec 12), MACC Sarawak issued a statement denying allegations that its officers were involved in a chase and had arrested Voon, and the commission explained that they were investigating a video clip that was disseminated by Voon during the 12th Sarawak Election campaign period.
Prior to that, Voon claimed that he was abruptly stopped by four MACC officers near Kenyalang Park around 8.30am, served a notice and escorted to MACC Sarawak headquarters for questioning.
Following that, Wan Junaidi in a statement on the same day, clarified that Voon had not been arrested by MACC.
He said Voon was merely called in for questioning by MACC as a witness, to assist in an investigation pertaining to a video that recently went viral on social media.
Meanwhile, Voon, who is also the PBK candidate for N11 Batu Lintang, called on all Sarawakians to rise up and back the party in the coming 12th Sarawak State Election.
He said PBK is the party that is fighting for every Sarawakian, as well as for the State.
“We are here not as the ‘sebarangan’ politician only. We are the truth party. We don’t call ourselves as an opposition neither we are part of the government,”.
“We fight for the right of Sarawak, we are different from others. This is the reason why we just could not agree with the many things that other political parties said,” he added. — DayakDaily
