KUCHING, Dec 12: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) president and candidate for N11 Batu Lintang Voon Lee Shan was abruptly stopped by four Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers near Kenyalang Park around 8.30am today, served a notice and escorted to the MACC headquarters for questioning.

In three separate videos uploaded to his Facebook page today, Voon claimed he was stopped while he was out driving alone.

He also claimed that the MACC officers have followed him and seized his car key prior to asking him to follow them for questioning.

He added that the officers did not properly identify themselves and indicate the offence committed by him when making the arrest which he said was clear harassment.

Not long after that, a fourth video surfaced of him arriving at the MACC headquarters here accompanied by party members at around 9am.

After the interrogation took place from 9.30am to about 1pm, Voon told DayakDaily that he was questioned under Section 16(b)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.

“He (the MACC officer) was questioning me on an offence under Section 16(b)(A) but MACC has a long list of offences. I asked him what is the offence but he couldn’t answer me.

“They were investigating about a certain video on my party’s campaign and ‘PBK Passport to Prosperity, Freedom and Independence’ manifesto,” he said after exiting the MACC building.

Based on the MACC Act 2009, this Section involves an offence of soliciting or receiving gratification (bribe).

Following the episode, Voon urged the people of Sarawak to support PBK and vote for its candidates so that the party can form a government governed by transparency, justice and fairness. — DayakDaily
